Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting an Industry Engagement Manager to join the Industry Alliance Programme of the Engineering Faculty. The role will be responsible for maintaining existing relationships and developing new business contacts to connect the Engineering Faculty to the wider industry in Wellington.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing strong relationships with industry stakeholders and academic staff.
  • Identifying opportunities for industry partners to engage with the faculty by providing projects, mentoring, internships and practicums for students to work on.
  • Strengthening outreach and connections with industry to foster greater interaction through guest lecturers, mentor programme and business networking opportunities for students.
  • Liaising with industry to align industry requirements with degree programmes.

You will be a highly organised self-starter and a natural relationship builder, who relishes working autonomously as well as contributing positively to a high-performance team.

To succeed in this role, you will be effective at building productive relationships with key industry stakeholders. Communication, planning, and collaborative skills are necessary to develop the partnerships required to deliver exceptional value to all parties.

Most important, is your passion for creating opportunities for students and industry to engage.

Key Requirements:

  • Ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Capability to work as part of a team as well as having individual responsibilities.
  • Willingness to develop your knowledge of tertiary level experiential learning programmes and the respective industry groups.
