Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for a Manager Student Living in the Te Kopanga - University Accommodation Wellington team. The role will be responsible for providing coaching and mentoring to Heads of Hall including leading the implementation of the Pastoral Care Code across the Halls.

This is a role where you have the opportunity to work with a management team to develop a culture that results in a high quality consistent and distinctive resident experience.

As a member of the accommodation senior management team, you will:

  • Lead, support and develop a high performing team.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality pastoral care in a group of halls.
  • Proactively plan, monitor and report on student progress in a way that supports students to develop academically and personally.
  • Implement the University’s quality, risk and compliance programmes.
  • Guide staff responding to critical incidents as part of an on-call roster.

  • Be a motivated, student-focused individual who can take the initiative, provide excellent administration and policy compliance.
  • Thrive in this role with an excellent manner with people, an ability to influence and manage conflict, strong attention to detail, and self-management skills.

  • Need effective time management and forward planning to balance meeting deadlines and maintain a high standard of service to both students and staff.
  • Remain calm under pressure and work well with a diverse range of stakeholders.
