Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Senior Administrator in a fixed-term part-time role for 24 months. The role will be primarily responsible to the holder of the Chair in Complexity Science but will also occasionally work with the Pou Hautū - School Manager of the Te Kura Tiaki, Whakawhiti Kōrero - School of Information Management. The role performs a key administration and co-ordination function to assist the Chair to effectively deliver strategic goals and objectives, focused on establishing a research entity at the university that is nationally and internationally recognised for its pioneering work in complexity science.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsive, proactive, high-quality administration and project support for the Chair.
  • Horizon scanning for funding opportunities and assistance in preparing funding applications.
  • Stakeholder management to foster relationships to the public and private sector.
  • Grants and finance administration, including associated contracts and scholarships.
  • Events coordination and assistance.

You will be a customer-focused individual who loves being proactive, tackling new projects, and solving problems across a range of administration areas. You also like to contribute to the development of research strategies and proposals, can take the initiative, and have an excellent approach to building relationships with diverse people.

You are a highly organised self-starter and natural relationship builder, who relishes working autonomously as well as contributing positively to a high performing team. You have effective time and self-management skills and are able to anticipate and meet deadlines. A growth mindset and the ability to remain calm under pressure are natural qualities.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience in delivering grant and research administration services, preferably in a tertiary environment.
  • Excellent self-management and experience as part of a high performing team operating in a dynamic context.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, and to adjust to different audiences.
  • Ability to use technology effectively and efficiently, including a wide variety of software.
