Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is seeking three payroll professionals for immediate short fixed-term, full-time positions to support our Payroll Remediation Project. This Project has two phases: fix up and then historic remediation.

The expertise that we are seeking will be across the following three roles:

  • Payroll Consultant
  • Payroll Coordinator
  • Payroll Consultant (Finance/Reporting/Payroll)

Ideally you will have:

  • Ascender Payroll experience.
  • Oracle Human Capital Management experience.
  • Knowledge of tax rules as they apply to payroll and other associated IRD compliance activities.

About the Payroll Remediation Project

The success of this project is crucial for ensuring the University's payroll compliance and accuracy going forward. Due to the critical nature of this work and its impact on our employees, this project is operating under tight timelines. To meet these urgent needs, we are actively seeking experienced payroll practitioners to join our team immediately.

Key responsibilities for all three roles:

  • Develop and implement improved payroll processes to ensure future compliance.
  • Conduct system tests, remediation work and financial analysis to resolve current payroll issues.
  • Create and refine financial checklists and controls for critical payroll activities.
  • Support the remediation of historical payroll discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with Finance and HR teams to optimise payroll operations.
