About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow that will conduct high quality research in the area of sustainable energy systems, particularly power systems modelling and analysis. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be required to work with other members of the Sustainable Energy Systems Research Group within the School of Engineering and Computer Science in a proactive, cooperative, and collegial manner. The Postdoctoral Fellow will also be required to contribute to the teaching in Power Systems Analysis, including postgraduate supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Closely collaborate with academic colleagues and thesis students in the area of Sustainable Energy Systems.
  • Conduct internationally recognised, high-quality research in the area of sustainable energy systems, particularly power systems modelling and analysis.
  • Contribute to the School’s teaching programme in Renewable Energy Systems Engineering, including helping/mentoring/co-supervising students.
  • Develop effective collaborative partnerships nationally and internationally.

About you

Key Requirements:

  • A PhD in the field of energy, and particularly in power systems modelling and analysis with an emphasis on renewable energy.
  • Proven research and publication track record within the field of energy, particularly in power systems optimisation at a macro level.
  • Proven ability to teach in one or more areas of Power Engineering/ Renewable Energy including Power Systems Analysis.
  • Added advantage with exposure to power system decision making and machine learning models.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills in English.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills especially across cultures.
